Stay-At-Home Success Story
Mom learns to work around her children's schedule.

I am a SAHM of two daughters (Ashleigh, 3 ½ and Alexandra, 17 months) and a freelance graphic designer. I started staying home just after my eldest turned one and I have been glad that I decided to make the change. My workflow is not constant; I can have months of no work, then a couple of weeks where I am slammed. It has worked out well as we seem to have plenty of time for mini-vacations while I am still working.

For the most part, I work for friends & relatives providing logos, letterhead design and identity packages, advertisements, newsletters and website design.

When I work, I do so around my children’s schedule. The eldest is in preschool three mornings a week and the youngest still naps for two to three hours a day. On the days Ashleigh does not have preschool, she watches a video in our home office while her sister sleeps. Everything that cannot be accomplished during those hours, I work on after they have gone to bed. It has been great to staying in touch with my field while getting to enjoy my kids!
